I Was Once A Bohemian Lover

After watching that beautifully serene romance, I just want to snuggle up in bed and have sweet, sweet dreams of my past life where I frolicked on far off beaches with some hippy dippy lover of mine, where we sang melodies and laughed and lay in the sun like a couple of lethargic, plump seals. I really butchered that image with the seal reference, didn't I. Seals just know how life works though! When it's a sunny day, they get out there and soak up every last drop of sunlight and bask for hours on end without a care in the world. That's just sheer intelligence.

Greenhouse sanctuary for one, please.

Absolute serenity.

However, if I were to somehow come into ownership of this little sanctuary, I'm fairly certain I would become an official hermit. Which may possibly ya never know kinda kill my social life. But hey, who needs human friends when you can have bird friends, and deer friends, and fishy friends! (Yes, I have turned into a Disney princess.)

sanctuaries dipped in white

Always on standby to dominate in pillow fights, complete with eight pillows within an arm's reach to overtake your opponent.

I've never really known if I would like to have my bedroom so easily visible from the outside, but something tells me this backyard is only acres and acres of lush, green meadows so there most likely won't be any creepers hiding behind trees or anything like that. Or is there... (Okay, I get it. I'm way too paranoid to ever have a hope of being able to sleep soundly with only a glass wall surrounding me. At least now I know.) If this room wasn't so unbearably chic I wouldn't be able to make it through the night.

So NYC. This is the type of scene where Carrie from Sex and the City would emerge in her classic outfit (a t-shirt, undies, and a pair of socks) and would then look outside with a troubled expression contemplating some issue surrounding men. Gotta love SATC.

So sick. Such a prominent modern touch with the minimalist black chairs contrasting the deep, rustic look. I would feel so absolutely safe in that little nook for a bed. Imagine if you had a single curtain that could slide shut as well, with some sort of sheer material so the light still trickled through.

There's something about chandeliers and luxurious bathtubs that always gets me. And shutter windows that are such a crisp shade of white. And a fireplace nook filled with a plethora of candles instead (to be subtly witty). And an antique scale which I would never use because it would most likely be hopelessly inaccurate and I'd be left feeling very upset/confused, but it makes the room in my opinion. And a perfectly simple hanging lightbulb which is just the right amount of light needed for a room like this. And of course a wooden platform next to the bathtub, making this room seem as if it is legitimately out of Atonement... well, shucks, this room will always get me.

Rustic Fortresses

Doesn't this look like it was just discovered in the middle of a far off, tropical jungle? Home to a very chic Tarzan and Jane, that is.

The hammock of my dreams. The color palette is so soothing, I feel relaxed already. Not to mention the delicate scattering of lanterns, all painted a crisp white, and the books and snacks in arm's reach... IT'S JUST TOO MUCH.

My newest addition to the growing list of beautiful forts. Could be my favourite. Just look at all the room you'd have under this! You can stand up! Revolutionary!

Well, isn't this charming. I spy with my little eye a tambourine! You don't see those too often. A tambourine with a pair of drums, perfect. I love the idea of sitting on such wonderfully embroidered pillows too, especially if it's sand that will touch my toes anyways.

Frosty

Light has such an overwhelming influence over us. With the light spilling through the windows to the end of the porch, the home seems irresistibly inviting, almost more so than if it were sunny outside because of the contrast against the bitterly cold surroundings. I can see the cups of hot cocoa and marshmallows awaiting me on an equally rustic table already... Now imagine if the lights were off or the candles blown out. The once inviting home has turned into quite the opposite as an instant sense of loneliness washes over.

So why don't we just go ahead and light those candles again, right?

Once Upon A Time...

It's decided that this will be the entrance to my dream home. Shouldn't be too hard to find! Isn't there such a story tale feel to it? I can just imagine stumbling in the wrong direction and uncovering this path, leading towards the grandiose hideaway of some aged princess or two. This is the type of place that conjures up fantasies of love affairs and sheer magic - your mind can run wild with what has gone on behind those walls.

Fort of My Dreams

So it is now decided that next weekend I will dedicate my time to build a fort just as beautiful as this one. Unfortunately I won't be in the middle of the forest for, you know, convenience and such. Once built, I will proceed to let the time whistle past the fairy like sheets with a book in tow and the candles alit.

By the way, click on the first beauty of a fort for instructions on how to make it.

Croatian Perfection

The delicate flowers matching to the blanket, white, simple undertones, the stone flooring... too much!

Doesn't this chair remind you of a fortune cookie? Even so, it's the coolest little chair I've seen in a while.

Speechless. The view, in particular, kills me. And I can't forget the living room. And the bedroom. Okay, the whole damn house is gorgeous.

I have finally found the home of my dreams, and assuming it costs a few too many pretty pennies, this is a tragic love story. This home is nestled into a pocket of Croatia (clearly one of the most serene areas on Earth), designed by, my newest idol, Rees Roberts. When I take a look at this place, I can't help but feel an irresistible calm wash over me. It's to die for! The crisp, white walls mixed with the rugged stone are a match made in heaven, and then the natural light that peeks into each room makes the whole house so airy. Of course, the simple yet elegant furniture is just the cherry on top. I love it when modern furniture is in a more rustic setting. It completes me. :)

Mount Athos, Macedonia

Lately I've really been craving some sun, more than usual actually. It's been a particularly dreary winter and has dragged on for quite some time now, so please, Mother Nature, do try your best to let the sun have a chance to come out and brighten our days. We miss her, and she misses us.

Of course, if Mother Nature fails me, which she very well might, then I could always escape away to this church in the cliffs of Northern Greece. It's pretty tempting, I'd say. But oh wait! Only men can go there. Wow. Just my luck.
