White Washed

After seeing that heavenly home in Croatia, I have determined that white has a very clear calming effect on me. White reminds me of cool breezes, tranquility, and gives a crisp touch to every room. It readily highlights each artistic piece of detail, as well. White is awesome.

While flipping through Lonny Magazine, I found this quote and it depicts perfectly what I was trying to say beforehand: "The walls of her apartment were painted pale blue, but after she had accumulated so much art, she switched the color to gallery white. 'I wanted the walls to fade away so the focus became the art.'"- Lonny Magazine's interview with Angel Dormer.

Croatian Perfection

The delicate flowers matching to the blanket, white, simple undertones, the stone flooring... too much!

Doesn't this chair remind you of a fortune cookie? Even so, it's the coolest little chair I've seen in a while.

Speechless. The view, in particular, kills me. And I can't forget the living room. And the bedroom. Okay, the whole damn house is gorgeous.

I have finally found the home of my dreams, and assuming it costs a few too many pretty pennies, this is a tragic love story. This home is nestled into a pocket of Croatia (clearly one of the most serene areas on Earth), designed by, my newest idol, Rees Roberts. When I take a look at this place, I can't help but feel an irresistible calm wash over me. It's to die for! The crisp, white walls mixed with the rugged stone are a match made in heaven, and then the natural light that peeks into each room makes the whole house so airy. Of course, the simple yet elegant furniture is just the cherry on top. I love it when modern furniture is in a more rustic setting. It completes me. :)

Rustic Femininity

What I would do to escape into this home, even for a day. It's the perfect balance between some rustic rough edges and absolute femininity, what with the delicate white walls, flowing dresses, and scattering of flowers in vases.

My Obsession with Eggs

I have an obsession with egg chairs. It's difficult to come out and say that, phew. I feel like I've just had a load of bricks taken off my back. They're just so wonderful. There's that sense of comfort not only physically, but, as corny as it may sound, emotionally too. You simply settle into an egg chair and you know that this will be your hour or two of ultimate relaxation. A friend of mine has a hanging hammock in her bedroom. I need that as well. All my furniture will hang! Yippee! (sarcasmsarcasmsarcasm, but kind of true, maybe.)
The one above is from Anthropologie. How am I not surprised. Their furniture can be like art.

L-o-v-e. This is so calming.

Kings & Queens Make Everything Better

This perfectly exemplifies how a room really only needs a few key pieces to make a lasting impression. Without the grandiose yet rugged painting, the truly archaic chandelier, and just damn sleek chair, this room would be frighteningly bare. But with it? Absolutely fit for a queen without being too stuffy. Of course, some royalty infused into any room will look enticing. Any accent involving a crown, there is a very good chance I'll be in love with. My mum has always instilled in me a love for crowns, so now it not only looks whimsical and adds that much needed hint of glamour to every room, but reminds me of my family too. (heartwarming moment.) On a side note, I'm not exactly a fan of the carpet. I tend to think a warm, wooden floor would capture the light and open up the room more. Nevertheless, not up to me, it's whatever makes the dweller happy!

Love Me Some Marilyn

When I think of Marilyn Monroe, even simply her name actually, she seems to capture the entire essence of what hollywood glamour was in the good ol' days. Fame came with talent or sheer beauty... for example, you couldn't just be famous because of having eight babies or having a baby when you're a teenager. Sheesh. Marilyn embodied the ever so enchanting sex symbol, so it really is no wonder as to why so many artists feel inspired by merely the sight of her face. Her face, as exquisite and timeless as it is, ignites a feeling within everyone. When I see Marilyn, I see a beautiful tragedy.

Anyways, this has to be one of the most original Marilyn pieces I've seen. I mean, look at her swirling hair and ruby red lips... all in mosaic! It's too much! Imagine what a statement it would make in a living room. Swoooooon.

On the topic of Marilyn, I feel like this would be the perfect time to share my favorite pictures of her.

By the way, I've decided that the chandelier featured in Marilyn's Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend will be the perfect touch to my foyer. It's just so welcoming! And those ballet pink ball gowns in the beginning? Bridesmaid dresses!

Mount Athos, Macedonia

Lately I've really been craving some sun, more than usual actually. It's been a particularly dreary winter and has dragged on for quite some time now, so please, Mother Nature, do try your best to let the sun have a chance to come out and brighten our days. We miss her, and she misses us.

Of course, if Mother Nature fails me, which she very well might, then I could always escape away to this church in the cliffs of Northern Greece. It's pretty tempting, I'd say. But oh wait! Only men can go there. Wow. Just my luck.

The (2010) Yummy Labels

As you can see, the "yummy" label is quite simply titled "yummy" because inside everything you will find is, in some sense, yummy!

ps. Once again, I really have no clue as to where I have gathered most of these, and I do not own a single one. Please let me know if you happen to know!

Je t'adore.

Story of my life. Perhaps merely one sided, though. It sure would be handy if there were some literal signs from the heavens sometimes. For the love of god, why does it have to be so complicated. How about one small, ruby red heart simply pops up above our heads if we like someone. That would be nice. Then again, it could be responsible for some fabulously awkward moments, and god knows I have enough of those.

Anyways, couldn't resist reposting this charming video from The Inside Stoop. Warning: I accept no blame for unexplained loss of time once entering this blog, and the dazed smile that very well may find its way onto your lovely face with the lovely posts you will see on this lovely site!
