Dainty Tingz

A collection of daintiness for your dainty eyes (can eyes be dainty? you tell me).
Because I'm in exam crunch mode, I am lazy. Because lazy people don't credit, there are no credits. Because I procrastinate, I have a tumblr. All photos from my tumblr, but are most definitely not my own. If you really want me to track one photo down for ya, shoot me an email or comment. Please congratulate me on my logic in the comments as well.

The last one-piece I wore was on the shores of Positano, Italy, and ironically enough I felt very Parisian. I was a Parisian child visiting Italy. Although I'm not sure I would ever have the occasion to wear such a delicate bathing suit, as I'm not sure barnacles and dog paws suit that lace detailing too well, I can always appreciate its dainty allure.

This might be what it feels like to sleep in a painting.

A singlet fit for a fairy. And due to my obsession with all things fairy, I need it. Although the only issue with this beauty is that I would turn into Carrie from SATC and would just lounge around in my undies all day, regardless of what needs to get done. Someone just answered the phone as Carrie. There are spies everywhere.

A little post-christmas daintiness. Replace the pinecones with flowers, and this is entirely fit for the summer.

What is it about stringed lights that tempt me so? Well the answer is obvious, my friends. I just picture hundreds of little fairy wings aglow above my bed. And who doesn't want to smile at the thought of that?

How I would like to look if I were a ballet teacher.

A portrait of the Parisian child all grown up, visiting the city.

This would also be an issue. Because I would want to buy seven pairs so I could wear them every single day. Variety is the spice of life... unless your undies look like this.

A pixie manifested in human form.

Now that your eyes are so satisfied with daintiness, your ears might be feeling a little deprived. Don't worry. I got that covered for you.

Keaton Henson: Lying to You

I first heard Keaton Henson's song, "Lying to You", and instantly fell head over feels with his vocal cords. So much soul in this fella.

As we lie in bed I feel lonely,

Though we're young, I feel eighty years old.

And your arms around me are keeping me warm.

But baby, I'm still feeling cold.

Daughter: Candles

Had a special someone send me this song, and it only makes my infatuation with Daughter multiply by a hundo.  If Keaton Henson and Daughter were to get together, I would be the happiest girl in the world. The world needs more perfection.

Things cannot be reversed, we learn from the times we are cursed
Things cannot be reversed, learn from the ones we fear the worst
And learn from the ones we hate the most how to

Blow out all the candles, blow out all the candles
"You're too old to be so shy," he says to me so I stay the night.

Bloc Party: Intimacy

Yesterday was a giddy moment indeed, folks. That same special someone sent me a link to these fellas and I just got waves of butterflies once I heard them. Their album, Intimacy, is ridiculous. I could listen to it on repeat for hours. Especially this song. It's so pleasing to my ears, they're just beaming.

I can sleep forever these days'Cause in my dreams I see you againBut this time fleshed out fuller facedIn your confirmation dress
I hope you all feel a tad more dainty.Until next time.

My Entirely Realistic, Mind-Numbingly Logical Summer Plans

At this time of the year, somehow my summer always begins to appear as something out of a utopia. My wardrobe transforms into a collection of delicate sundresses, my alarm clock is in the form of the sweet little birdies resting on window sill, and you could find me walking down the beach while strumming away on a guitar (because yes, I picked up an entirely new skill in two weeks). But alas, as much as I relish my summer, these dreams are usually replaced by an obscene amount of sleep, where I roll out of bed and spend a few hours on Sims 3, and then head off to get money, get paid, at my work. Oh, right, yes I see friends too.

However, this summer is going to be so different. Seriously, I swear. I found some visual images to accompany my deadly serious plans for summer.

One. I don't know where this is. Nor do I know if it is real (I told you I'm logical). However, I will be there this summer. And I will most definitely be wearing a cowboy hat because how could I not wear one when in the presence of horses and dinosaurs. I would be a fool if I didn't! Summer is a time for exploring your hobbies, yeah? My new hobby is horseback riding with dinosaurs and ohmygod are there people hanging on to that dinosaur's leg? Change of plans. I'm going to ride the dinosaur itself.

Two. Not only would my mum drool at the sight of this filing cabinet (set of drawers?), I would also drool. In fact, I am right now. But I would probably cry if I opened the drawers and they were filled with baby ducks, is this real life? So yes. This summer I fully plan to invest in a few hundred baby duckies and a rustic filing cabinet... and let total joy ensue.

Hai.

HOLY MOLY! I may have been exaggerating earlier when I said I was drooling over the filing cabinet. That might be a little excessive (but not actually, totally justified). But this. This I can drool over. Avocado on bacon on tomatoes on basil on eggs on toast on SCRUMPTIOUS TIMES. I fully commit to replicating this to a tee this summer.

A Trip Through the Sun, From France

Ah, this room makes me feel light. Imperfect walls, a rugged collection of paintings and sketches, ultra-bright pillows... just insert me lounging like a cat on the couch right over there.

That chair. What confidence. Should I mayhaps be in an entirely white & polished room, an iMac gazing into my eyes, with bouquets of my friends poised around the desk in front of me? I could. Or I could totally be the subject of attention against this rustic landscape.

She prefers eyes on her at all times. But may have to share the attention with that good lookin' ladder.

I'm really curious as to what's above this bed... my dreams would be complete if it were an office that I could just sneak away to without anyone noticing. Or an art studio, omg. Or maybe it's just a hideaway retreat for some relaxation.

Well I just felt like I was walking through the sun. Please invite me over anytime, will you?

The Antlers and Some Goodies

Listen to the lyrics.

A few nights ago I was up late chatting with a friend, and the topic of music came up.
Always a casual subject, I was expecting an exchange of songs, and that would be it.

I was saying how if you listen to Bon Iver's Blood Bank at the same time as Rainy Mood, it can lull you to sleep within minutes. He agreed. "But nothing will ever come close to The Antlers."

Here are the lyrics.

...and he was right. I have been completely wooed.
It isn't often that music can actually hypnotize me enough so that if I lay down and listen to it, I can just let their lyrics breathe through me, the delicate notes of piano acting as a heartbeat to their message. Their music is beautiful.

Please listen to these songs! I hope it shall resonate with you as deeply as it has with me. *read in an elderly English accent for most impact*

Anyways, it's good to be home. I've spent the last week reading To the Lighthouse, sipping variations of David's Tea (can't get any better than this), watching Pride & Prejudice over and over (don't ask why, not sure myself, I was just obsessed) and playing Kettering on the piano, but the internet connection has been a sketchy, disappointing situation so I couldn't post anythang.

But YO! Because I have abandoned you unexpectedly for a week, I fully intend to make up for that by making this post full of equally unexpected goodies

Ilana Kohn, Spring '12

Ilana Kohn, you too have wooed me with your breezy tops and sundresses. Something about watching Keira Knightley wander through the knolls of the English countryside in those simple, high waisted dresses make me want to throw away my entire wardrobe and replace them with summer dresses fit for six glorious weeks of July spent in a French chateau. Really not too much to ask.

Bzrbzr Ombre Tights

Ombre tights are easily my newest obsession. Scrolling down past each photo was like watching a flower bloom in slow motion, a little in awe... at tights. Aka Tiffany Ju has made tights into something of an art and that is no small feat, I'm sure.

Slash this song came on and I found it quite suitable. Refer to the line: "...and you can walk your long legs, baby, right out of my life."

Scout & Catalogue, Spring '12

If I could look anywhere near as effortlessly cool as this girl, then I'm sold. This photo shoot was apparently shot entirely in the dead of winter, but they've achieved such a dainty, spring-like vibe to it all with her distressed blonde hair, the pastel palette, and the happy splash of vibrant ocean colours.

Okay, who doesn't want a wolf eating their finger as a ring. That isn't a question on purpose. I already know the answer. And note the battle wounds on the ears of the rabbit, what a unique touch to an already whimsical piece itself.

Erin Wasson for Zadig & Voltaire

Here are a few goodies hand picked from her shots for Zadig & Voltaire, Summer '12 collection. What did I take from these photos?

a. I want her hair (...slash her face in general, and her ability to look so absolutely laid back while maintaining that rocker, bad-ass look).
b. This will be my French vacation home I was mentioning earlier. Oh golly jee willickers, guys, just bought it, so excited!
and c. Above all, I need Zadig & Voltaire in my summer wardrobe, stat.

This has to be the most ornate, stunning, intricate fireplace I have ever seen. Talk about paying attention to details. It's honestly a form of art in this room, I can't take my eyes off it.

Mmm, greenery. Come to mama! I would be so at peace working here. Kudos to the architect who intentionally forgot a wall, pretty brilliant.

D'aaaw. I can already a picture an entire wall dedicated to these enchanting shadow boxes, in an otherwise totally minimalist room. Very scandinavian, eh?

Oh, and ps, be prepared to be washed over with envy. The creator of these gems lives on a small cycladic sland, Antiparos, with the Aegean sea stretching beyond her view for miles upon miles, acting as her inspiration and source of calm. Wow.

Until next time, I bid you adieu.
That was my cat alter ego speaking.

Off Livin' In Dreamland, Don't Mind Me

How amusing life would be, if we were all taken by our dreams in such a literal way.

Just imagine if, as the nightlife came alive on the streets of downtown, you looked up into the sky and saw thousands upon thousands of people hanging by the threads of a cloud, or the stem of a flower, or the sails of a boat, looking as far into dreamland as humanly possible. All dangers, of course, wouldn't touch them as they drifted on by, and then, at the end of the night, they would be delicately released into their bed.

First, if I looked up and saw this, I'd scream. That's slightly obvious. Because with the impending arrival of 2012, you know, I'd probably think it was some odd... cruel.. warning. And then, I'd accept it with open arms! I wanna dream while hanging off of a flower! Me, me, me!

A tad eery, but her illuminated blonde hair does look quite magical.

If I happened to pop up from the soil, however, when I began to dream, I would not want this. Don't know many people who would. "Oh jeez, there's that girl again off dreaming. You know, it's getting really annoying to remember to avoid her while I'm out on my night walk in the woods......" (actually who goes for walks in the woods at night anyhow, so I guess I'm in the clear.

All this is the work of Ms. Maia Flore.
